Mother & Baby Postnatal Pilates

2017 dates t.b.c.

As a pre & postnatal specialist (and mother of a 4 year old) I have the experience to help you gently and safely with your postnatal fitness needs. The class will primarily look to strengthen the abdominals and pelvic floor along with mobilising, stretching and strengthening the back & shoulders.

No previous experience of Pilates is necessary.

Classes are suitable for mothers with newborn babies to those with babies who are about to start crawling. In the relaxed and comfortable environment of Wendy's studio, babies can lie next to you or sit in a car seat, whichever suits you and your baby. If you need to feed or take a break and sit out certain exercises during the class that is no problem!

Prams can be left outside (under the stairs) at the owners risk. I advise you to bring your baby in your arms/baby carrier or car seat. As the venue is principally a dance school, there are no baby changing facilities but there is a comfortable changing room where you can use your own portable changing mats. We cannot provide bottle warming and please take any soiled nappies with you.

Before starting Postnatal Pilates you must wait 6 weeks after a natural birth and 12 weeks after a caesarean section (planned or emergency). This is only a guide and if you have any concerns it is best to check with your gp or health visitor first before booking. Much depends on the individual birth and how fit you were before and during your pregnancy. Please check with me if you experienced SPD during your pregnancy. I am always on hand to speak to all mothers before starting a postnatal course.
